The first

It has been a few first day or first moments the past few days now. This is actually the first post I make from Sydney. I write this after the first day in Sydney. I and Sofia are relaxing at the hostel with headaches. Probably it is due to the jet lag from the flight. To solve the problem we have invested in a bottle of Australian wine which we consume together with what is left of the travel candy.

The first accommodation

The hostel is ok.  Roof, water, somewhere to cook and a bed, everything you need! Although it gets quite cold after sunset so it is comfortable to be two! I have also looked a lot for cockroaches. I have heard that they are not very uncommon and this might be a convenient place for them to live (↓)?

The first time flying an A380!

The Airbus A380 is the world’s largest passenger aircraft: Two floors all the way and 11 seats wide. I think that there is only a few of this kind in operation today, but it might be a steady growing number. Quantas has a few operating between Sydney and London.

First day in Sydney

Today we went to the registration office at University of New South Wales. It is a very beautiful campus with parks and green areas and modern buildings. At the exchange office we checked the status with our courses and got some other useful information. I have two courses I wish to change before next week. This concerns me a little but I hope I can fix it on Monday.

We also received with UNSW ID cards and wireless access but I ran out of battery so this is posted the day after it was written.

Tomorrow we will be moving to our home for the next few weeks. We passed the house today and it looked promising.

A few impressions so far are:

  • Coogee beach
  • Cheap meat, expensive living and vegetables
  • Huge birds at campus with long beaks
  • Left side driving!
  • Extremely hilly in Sydney, not as I imagined from Google’s street walk.
