Negotiation skills – Who can solve the problem and get to agreement?

Sofia wants to have the balcony door open. David wants too close it. The wise man enters the living room to solve the problem. The wise man shuts the door to half leaving it open but not wide open. This makes David shout:

- WHAT!! The door is still open! I can not agree on this.

The wise man thinks:

- Leaving the door half open certainly is not a compromise. This will make David go crazy. But if I shut the door Sofia will probably be as mad. Hmm? This is a deadlock! What should I do??

Help the wise man solve the problem!!! Should he keep the door open or close it?
